Just blunder-ful: Kate Garraway forced to announce she's being axed from Daybreak live on air in show bungle

Blunder: Kate Garraway and Dan Lobb were shocked when they were forced to read out their replacements on Daybreak when producers accidentally changed their autocue

They've been side stepped to make way for new hosts Lorraine Kelly and Aled Jones.

But now it has emerged that current Daybreak presenters Kate Garraway and Dan Lobb were forced to read out they had been axed live on air.

Show chiefs accidentally altered the pair's autocue to read out they're being replaced by Lorraine and Aled.

And it was even more of an embarrassment for Lobb, 40, who is being scrapped from the programme altogether.

The presenting duo reportedly had been asked whether they'd mind making the announcement, but they refused.

And they were given a shock when their script was changed on the autocue on Tuesday's show.

A show insider told the Sunday Mirror: 'It was embarrassing to say the least. Dan saw it before reading it out and stopped talking, leaving Kate to step in and start ad-libbing.

Replacements: Lorraine Kelly and former choir boy Aled Jones have been announced as the new presenters to take over in September

'They were told afterwards it was a mistake and the producers apologised.'

Both Garraway, 45, and Lobb are expected to continue fronting the show throughout the summer, before the new hosts will take over in September, after the Olympics.

And Kate will stay on to cover Lorraine during holidays and act as a stand-in.

Reshuffle: Christine Bleakley and Adrian Chiles left the show in December after flailing viewer figures

They replace original presenters of the show, Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley, who were axed in December after flailing viewer figures.

Speculation has been rife producers are set to change the name from Daybreak for fear it is associated with the flop hosts, but they are said to be now keeping the title.

David Kermode, who moves over from 5 News, will be in charge of the revamp, which will return to more of a GMTV-style format.
